Based on the physicochemical properties of industrial by-product gypsum, the paper reviews the research progress and main factors restricting its efficient and large-scale utilization in the fields of cement retarders, gypsum blocks, gypsum boards, and gypsum mortar. The prospect is proposed for the next research direction of industrial by-product gypsum utilization.
